Lexington Medical, Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Bedford, MA to design medical device mechanisms for our AEON surgical stapling platform. As a Mechanical Engineer at Lexington Medical, you will take designs from concept to production, with broad ownership of the work along the way.
About Lexington Medical
Lexington Medical, Inc. is a medical device company designing and manufacturing surgical stapling technology at our headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts, just outside Boston. Our AEON Endostapler is an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive surgical stapler used in operating rooms around the world. With engineering, manufacturing, and quality working closely together, engineers stay close to the product and see their work move from an idea through prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and ultimately into the operating room.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lexington Medical, you will join an R&D team developing precision surgical stapling devices across one of three areas. Placement is based on your experience and interests. Across the teams, you will design components and assemblies, build and test prototypes, iterate, and work with manufacturing to bring it into production.
This is a good fit for an engineer who wants to do more than own a narrow piece of a larger program. You will stay close to the physical product and the full development process across three specialized groups:
Reloads: Cartridge mechanisms, staple formation and geometry, firing sequences, and tissue compression.
Manual Handle: Linkages, gear trains, force transfer, ergonomics, and design for manufacturing.
Power Handle: Motorized systems integrating mechanical components, motors, sensors, electronics, and other electromechanical elements.
