The engineer will support Senior Engineers with mechanical design activities including Creo 3D modeling, technical drawing interpretation, concept design, stress and life analysis, and assessment of part nonconformance risks .

Duration: Permanent (Full-Time)

Schedule: Monday Friday; occasional weekends based on project needs

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support the Drivetrain Castings Component Team, specifically the Axle Housing Design group.

The engineer will support Senior Engineers with mechanical design activities including Creo 3D modeling, technical drawing interpretation, concept design, stress and life analysis, and assessment of part nonconformance risks.

This is an entry-level engineering role with opportunities for additional responsibility based on experience and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Create concept designs and 3D models using Creo.
• Support mechanical design and development of axle housing components.
• Perform or support stress and life analysis.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Support Senior Design Engineers with assigned engineering tasks.
• Assess part nonconformance risks and support resolution activities.
• Work with suppliers and supplier development engineers.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Quality and Operations.
• Communicate design information and technical findings effectively.
• Manage individual engineering tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Participate in collaboration with local and global engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Relevant engineering backgrounds such as Manufacturing or Automotive Engineering may be considered where applicable.
  • No Associate/2-year degree.
• 2 4 years of professional engineering experience.
• Master's degree candidates must still have 2+ years of professional experience.
• Internship experience does not count toward the required experience.
• Proficient in Creo 3D modeling - Creo specifically is required.
• Mechanical design experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prints.
• Understanding of basic geometric tolerancing/GD&T.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable receiving and applying feedback.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and internal process partners.

Preferred / Desired Skills

• Creo Simulate / FEA
• Steel or iron casting design experience
• APQP knowledge
• Practical/hands-on engineering experience
• Experience with mechanical components or drivetrain systems
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and processes

Team & Work Environment

• Supports a local design team of approximately 20 members.
• Works closely with approximately 2 3 team members and a Senior Design Engineer.
• Regular interaction with global engineering teams.
• Collaboration with suppliers, Quality, Operations, and other internal partners.
• Primarily an office-based engineering environment (approximately 80% office) adjacent to a machining and assembly facility.
• Client provides required work assets; worker must provide their own boots.
• Export controls apply.
