Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role

Pay Rate: $42.00 - 45.00/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and validation of innovative power electronics and electric drive systems. This role is responsible for mechanical design concepting, design release activities, component validation, and collaboration with manufacturing suppliers to ensure high-quality, reliable products. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop solutions that improve efficiency, performance, and sustainability across advanced technology platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine mechanical design concepts for power electronics and related systems.
• Create, review, release, and check engineering drawings, models, and design documentation.
• Perform mechanical component and system validation through fit-up, assembly, vibration, and thermal testing activities.
• Evaluate design performance and make recommendations for improvements based on testing results.
• Collaborate with suppliers to support manufacturing feasibility, production readiness, and quality objectives.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to integrate designs into larger product platforms.
• Apply material properties, dimensional tolerancing, and engineering fundamentals to ensure robust designs.
• Support prototype builds, troubleshooting efforts, and design issue resolution.
• Utilize CAD tools to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives.

Years of Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience required.
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience will be considered.
• Associate degree in a related engineering field with 9+ years of relevant experience will be considered.
• Internship experience may be counted toward overall experience requirements.
• Experience in mechanical design engineering, product development, component validation, or comparable engineering roles is preferred.

Skills Required

Technical Skills

• Strong foundation in mechanical design principles and material properties.
• Advanced proficiency with Creo CAD software.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with mechanical design validation and testing.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of fit-up and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of vibration and thermal testing methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of heat transfer principles.
• Knowledge of metallic material properties and selection.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and power electronics packaging.
• Experience supporting supplier manufacturing and production readiness activities.
