We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, prototype, and implement mechanical tools, jigs, and fixtures used in electronics disassembly and recycling operations. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on mechanical design experience, proficiency in 3D CAD, and experience taking tooling concepts from design through testing and deployment.
Design mechanical tools, jigs, fixtures, and related equipment for electronics disassembly and recycling applications.
Create 3D models, 2D drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
Develop and refine designs through prototyping, testing, and user feedback.
Apply DFM/DFA principles to create reliable, durable, cost-effective, and manufacturable tooling.
Design solutions that can accommodate different equipment, facilities, and operating conditions.
Coordinate engineering changes and develop technical documentation and SOPs as needed.
Build, fit, and test prototype tools and fixtures in laboratory and operational environments.
Support tooling implementation, validation, and applicable measurement system analysis activities.
Work with operations teams to evaluate tooling under real-world conditions.
Support tool commissioning, training, troubleshooting, and deployment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, tooling, jig/fixture design, or manufacturing.
Strong 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing experience.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault is preferred; SolidWorks, Creo/Pro-E, Fusion 360, or similar CAD platforms are also considered.
Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing tools, jigs, or fixtures.
Familiarity with PLM, PDM, or document management systems.
Knowledge of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with technical and operations teams.
Willingness to travel to different work sites as needed.
Familiarity with AI tools for engineering documentation, reporting, and productivity is a plus.
