    Location: Sunnyvale, CA
    Duration: 12 Months

    Job Overview:
    • We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, prototype, and implement mechanical tools, jigs, and fixtures used in electronics disassembly and recycling operations.
    • The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design and hands-on engineering experience, with proficiency in 3D CAD, 2D drawings, BOMs, prototyping, DFM/DFA, and design validation.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Mechanical Design and Engineering
    • Design mechanical tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment for electronics disassembly and recycling applications.
    • Create detailed 3D part and assembly models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and revision-controlled engineering documentation.
    • Develop design concepts through prototyping, testing, and iterative improvements.
    • Apply DFM and DFA principles to ensure designs are durable, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
    • Design adaptable tooling capable of operating across different facility layouts, equipment configurations, and site-specific requirements.
    • Coordinate engineering design changes and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
    • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures as required.
    • Prototyping, Testing, and Validation
    • Build, assemble, fit, and physically test prototype tools, jigs, and fixtures.
    • Conduct hands-on testing in laboratory and operational environments.
    • Support tooling and fixture implementation while ensuring applicable Measurement System Analysis requirements are completed.
    • Work directly with operations teams to evaluate and validate tools under real-world conditions.
    • Support tool commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and deployment activities.
    • Travel to different facility locations as needed to support implementation and validation activities.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
    • 5 to 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Tooling, Jig and Fixture Design, or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Strong experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation.
    • Experience designing and developing mechanical tools, jigs, fixtures, or production equipment.
    • Strong understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
    • Experience with prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and design iteration.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to travel to different facility locations as required.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
    • Experience with SolidWorks, Pro E, Creo, Fusion 360, or similar CAD platforms.
    • Experience with PLM, PDM, document management, or collaboration systems.
    • Experience with Measurement System Analysis and tooling qualification.
    • Experience developing SOPs and engineering documentation.
    • Familiarity with AI tools for engineering documentation, reporting, and workflow improvement.
    • Experience supporting manufacturing, electronics, recycling, or automated equipment environments.
