Job Details

We are seeking a Mechanical Product Development Engineer specializing in mechanism design, motion control, and kinematic analysis to join our team in Moberly, MO. This is a full lifecycle ("cradle-to-grave") engineering position where you will take moving assemblies and vehicle control systems from a blank-page concept through first-principles math, CAD modeling, validation, and shop-floor manufacturing release.

We are not looking for a CAD operator or "button-pusher." We need a hands-on mechanical engineer who uses physics, dynamic calculations, and core mechanical fundamentals to solve complex challenges in safety-critical vehicle and industrial equipment environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • New Product Development (50%): Concept, analyze, and design innovative mechanical mechanisms, linkages, and operator controls for vehicles and industrial equipment.
  • Sustaining Engineering (40%): Optimize existing mechanism assemblies, refine mechanical performance, and update designs to meet evolving regulatory and customer standards.
  • Manufacturing & Assembly Support (10%): Work directly on the factory floor with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot assembly issues, resolve tolerances, and maintain design intent during production runs.
  • Engineering Process Leadership: Lead DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) initiatives to ensure all safety-critical moving parts meet performance and safety criteria.
  • Modeling & Technical Analysis: Perform kinematic, force, and stress calculations manually or analytically prior to and during CAD modeling. Execute 3D parametric design using Siemens NX (or similar tools like SolidWorks/Creo), applying GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis for DFA/DFM.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated design experience focusing on mechanical mechanisms, moving assemblies, linkages, or motion-control systems. Experience with vehicle control systems or heavy equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related technical discipline (commensurate hands-on design experience considered).
  • Analytical Approach: Demonstrated ability to apply first-principles mechanical physics and mathematical analysis to component and mechanism design.

Technical Skills:
  • High proficiency in parametric 3D CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred; SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA accepted).
  • In-depth understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and Design for Assembly/Manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
  • Hands-on experience driving DFMEA and DVP&R documentation for complex assemblies.

Work Style: 100% onsite presence in Moberly, MO, with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to collaborating with cross-functional teams and customer specs.
