Mechanical Design Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Cape Canaveral, FL for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop mechanical ground-support equipment used to handle, lift, test, assemble, and transport mechanical and electrical components. This role requires strong 3D CAD experience and includes creating production drawings, assemblies, bills of material, and design modifications while supporting cross-functional product development.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with up to 3 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Professional experience using a 3D CAD system such as Creo, NX, or SolidWorks.
• Experience designing or modifying machine tools, tooling, or mechanical support equipment.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Ability to develop parts, assemblies, installation designs, and production drawings.
• Ability to create and maintain engineering documentation and CAD data.
• Experience creating bills of material.
• Ability to complete drawings according to standard engineering drafting practices.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Ability to review and verify drawings, models, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines.
• Ability to communicate design knowledge and provide technical support to team members.

What You’ll Do

• Design mechanical ground-support equipment and related components.
• Develop equipment used for handling, lifting, testing, assembly, and transportation.
• Create parts, drawings, assemblies, bills of material, simplified representations, and shrinkwrap models.
• Develop and revise engineering plans, layouts, models, and installation drawings using Creo.
• Complete layout drawings prepared by other team members.
• Prepare detailed production drawings.
• Maintain and verify CAD models and engineering documentation.
• Apply GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drafting requirements.
• Modify designs to improve product quality or facilitate manufacturing.
• Support cross-functional product-development activities.
• Provide design guidance and technical support to engineering team members.
• Coordinate with mechanical ground-support equipment engineers throughout design and development.

Pay

• $53.00–$63.00 per hour
