PGS Worldwide is seeking Mechanical Design Checking Engineers in Annapolis, Maryland for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will support mechanical and electro-mechanical design documentation by creating and reviewing 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and Model Based Definition packages. Engineers will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design accuracy, manufacturability, configuration control, and compliance with applicable ASME drawing and GD&T standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Principal Track – Job ID 1930: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year.
- Senior Principal Track – Job ID 1931: Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years.
- Candidates without a degree may substitute an additional 4 years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
- 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modeling tools.
- 3+ years of experience developing and releasing engineering models and drawings.
- 3+ years of experience developing and releasing Model Based Definition / Digital Product Definition packages.
- Familiarity with GD&T interpretation.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings and designs for accuracy, manufacturability, and assembly.
- Strong understanding of mechanical or machine design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program approval as required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or Teamcenter MPLM.
- 5+ years of Siemens NX experience.
- Advanced GD&T interpretation experience.
- Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience managing configuration for large mechanical systems or vehicle platforms.
- Strong knowledge of engineering release procedures and configuration-management practices.
- Experience managing Engineering Bills of Material through effectivity management.
- Experience working with Model Based Definition in NX.
- Ability to independently develop and implement technical solutions with minimal oversight.
- Ability to manage complex technical assignments under schedule and program pressure.
What You’ll Do
- Create and review 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies.
- Develop documentation in accordance with ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5, and ASME Y14.41 requirements.
- Review engineering drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and assembly.
- Support development and release of Model Based Definition and Digital Product Definition packages.
- Verify drawing dimensions, tolerances, notes, and technical content.
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering review teams to resolve design and documentation issues.
- Ensure engineering documentation is clear, accurate, and suitable for downstream manufacturing and assembly.
- Support mechanical design process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain proper design configuration and engineering release control.
- Support Product Lifecycle Management activities and engineering-data management.
- Assist with Engineering Bill of Material configuration and effectivity management.
- Provide technical guidance on design checking, drawing practices, and configuration-management issues.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 9/80 work schedule.
- Full-time onsite in Annapolis, Maryland.
Pay
- Principal Track – Job ID 1930: 5+ years of relevant experience — $90.00 per hour.
- Senior Principal Track – Job ID 1931: 8+ years of relevant experience — $104.57 per hour.
