    Blackrock Resources is seeking an experienced Mechanical Department Manager to lead our Pittsburgh-based mechanical engineering team with a focus on industrial piping systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for team development, project execution, and business growth.

    As part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction services organization, you will work with clients across a wide range of industries, including metals, chemical, industrial manufacturing, automotive, food processing, municipal, and environmental sectors. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our mechanical department while delivering innovative solutions for complex heavy industrial projects.

    Qualifications:

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or another U.S. state preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    • 15+ years of engineering experience in industrial environments.
    • 5+ years of leadership or management experience.
    • Strong background in industrial piping system design and analysis.
    • Experience leading projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and execution.
    • Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems.

    Technical Expertise:

    • Familiarity with engineering software such as:

    Caesar II

    Pipe-Flo

    AFT Fathom

    Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including:

    ASME

    NFPA

    API

    Experience within heavy industrial sectors such as metals, chemical processing, manufacturing, energy, or related industries.

    Leadership & Department Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers.
    • Plan and allocate resources across multiple projects and proposals.
    • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish departmental goals, strategy, and growth plans.
    • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Project & Business Leadership

    • Oversee the successful execution of engineering services for multiple projects.
    • Develop engineering estimates and contribute to proposal development efforts.

    Additional Requirements:

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Strong organizational and project management abilities.

    Ability to travel locally and regionally to support client needs. #LI-TW1
