Description

DESE Research, Inc. is seeking mid-level and senior Mechanical and Tooling Design Engineers with space hardware experience to support aerospace vehicle programs in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. This role requires hands-on proficiency in PTC Creo and Windchill PLM, strong mechanical design skills, and the ability to work independently. If you've designed or supported tooling and hardware for space programs and want to improve your CAD and PLM skills on real flight and ground support equipment, we encourage you to apply!Job Details:You'll support the design, development, and documentation of tooling for manufacturing, ground support, and test operations on space hardware programs, working directly with our customer's engineering team. Day-to-day, you'll generate and redline 2D drawings and 3D models in PTC Creo per ASME Y14.5 and manage that data through Windchill PLM. We're looking for someone who can take a set of performance requirements, develop a conceptual design, and mature it into production-ready drawings and models, with strong attention to detail and data integrity throughout. A collaborative attitude, openness to customer feedback, and strong attention to detail will set you up for success in this position.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or manufacturing engineeringExperience with space hardware, flight hardware, ground support equipment, or test hardware (can be gained through internships, co-ops, or professional experience)Proficiency in PTC Creo (parametric modeling, assembly design, drawing creation and editing); ability to create and redline 2D drawings and 3D models in compliance with ASME Y14.5; familiarity with Model-Based Definition (MBD) practices is a plusProficiency in Windchill PLM (document and CAD data management, workflow and change management, product structure)Experience with mechanical design or tooling developmentSelf-directed and able to make sound engineering judgments with minimal supervision in a dynamic, customer-facing environmentPreferred Qualifications:Experience as a Windchill PLM administrator or super user, including user/role management, access control configuration, workflow customization, and system troubleshootingExperience enforcing PLM governance standards such as part numbering schemes, lifecycle states, and baseline/release processesResponsibilities:Apply mechanical design techniques to conceptualize, model, and draft tooling and hardware solutions based on customer requirements and feedbackUse PTC Creo and Windchill PLM daily as your primary tools for design work and data managementManage all CAD data, product structures, and engineering change workflows within Windchill PLM, maintaining configuration control and audit readinessGenerate tooling and mechanical designs for space hardware equipmentCreate mechanical drawings and models in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)About DESE:For the past 43 years, DESE has provided industry-leading technical and engineering solutions in the fields of Defense, Energy, Space, and Environment.
