CAROLINE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Description: Automotive Mechanic JOB TITLE: Automotive Mechanic LOCATION: Transportation IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor of Transportation or Shop Foreman WORK SCHEDULE:12-M - 260 Days - 8 Hrs. PAY GRADE: 215 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License. FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. High School Diploma or its equivalent as certified by the State Department of Education and the local school board.
2. 3 years of experience as an automotive mechanic
3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
4. Knowledge of shop tools and repair operation on buses and automobiles
5. A physical examination administered by a licensed physician. Tests for TB and other communicable diseases acceptable
6. A valid Virginia's Driver's License including school buses
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To keep the school district's buses and automobiles in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs duties as assigned in repairing and servicing district buses and automobiles. Assist in maintaining a current inventory of supplies and equipment. Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all working related areas. Substitute bus driver in an emergency. Other duties as assigned. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
