    The Maintenance Technician at Savage's Lake Charles Louisiana Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility.Responsibilities / Job Duties:

    Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on pickups, mobile equipment, tractors and trailers at our Lake Charles, LA facility.Assists with other facility mechanical repairs as necessaryMaintain shop cleanliness and parts inventoryLearn and partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keepingEnsure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirementsFollow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating proceduresAssist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as neededSupport other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Maintenance Supervisor, even in areas outside typical diesel mechanic duties

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    Must meet refinery standards for entering the plant, i.e. clean criminal history, ability to pass a drug & alcohol screen, possess a current Driver's License and TWIC card at the time of applying

    Experience needed in troubleshooting and repairin hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.Experience needed in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plusHas an invested interest in operational safetyBe able to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructionsWelding experience a plusWillingness to do a significant amount of preventative maintenancePrepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Maintenance SupervisorEnvironmental awarenessAble to lift 50 lbs.Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpfulExcellent communication skillsEffective interfacing with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team membersSelf-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policiesAbility to be on call at designated times.Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completionA strong record of continuous improvement, personal development and attention to detailThe chosen candidate will have a value system that will embrace our culture

    Education/Experience:

    Prior experience as a mobile equipment mechanic/diesel mechanic, pickups, tractors and trailers requiredCertifications preferred but not required

    Physical Requirements:

    Will be on your feet for extended period of time throughout the dayNavigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks and other high places, ground that can be slick or uneven, and other industrial hazardsThe work site is an industrial setting and will require someone who can work safely around this type of environment, as well as ensure compliance to strict OSHA and State regulations
