Maintains/repairs, installs, removes, starts/stops equipment (pumps-motor-boiler-chiller-air handler-medical air-medical vacuum, etc.) and facility wide equipment (bed, plumbing fixtures, minor electrical services, stretcher, dishwasher, etc.). Work with little or no supervision.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs preventative maintenance on a variety of power plant equipment (boiler, pumps, motors, chillers, air handlers, etc.).
2. Reading, interpreting and working from blue prints, diagrams, and sketches.
3. Performs preventative maintenance and repair to equipment.
4. All interior (night lights, floods, fluorescent, exit, etc.) will require changing of bulbs, ballasts, starters, etc., as needed.
5. Responsible for trouble shooting the following: nurse call system, telecommunication and a variety of other communication systems.
6. Responsible for repairs and PM’s to beds, over bed tables, night stands, side rails, chairs, etc. (Equipment that makes up a patient room).
7. Responsible for maintaining the power plant equipment for stop and starts, trouble shoot failure, etc. The ability to keep plant equipment running in abnormal conditions or situations.
8. Responsible for maintaining and PM’s to wheelchairs, utility carts, patient transport carts, etc.
9. Responsible for maintaining and PM’s to plumbing systems (commodes, sinks, dispensers, drains, etc.).
10. Responsible for maintaining and PM’s to medical gas systems (oxygen, vacuums, air, etc.).
11. Responsible for maintaining and PM’s to the environmental appearance of the facility (walls, ceilings, door frames, floors, etc.).
12. Responsible for emergency generator operation and emergency procedure of starts and stops.
13. Responsible for maintaining and PM’s for equipment used in nurse station type setting (phones, refrigerators, chairs, etc.).
14. Responsible for all components of the facility but not limited to hallways, stairwells, patient rooms, nurse stations, offices, exam rooms, equipment throughout etc., and all other related duties.
15. Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times.
16. Reports unsafe conditions.
17. Assists willingly all other Facilities Technicians as needed or directed.
18. Uses good telephone courtesy (identify department and your name).
19. Assists willingly with moving furniture, boxes, and heavy objects.
20. Adheres to hospital and department policies and procedures.
21. Participates in the monthly department meetings.
22. Assists in maintaining and taking inventory of supplies and stock as needed to insure your daily operation.
23. Responds to all emergency codes.
24. Maintains the painted finishes of walls, doors, frame, etc. throughout the facility
25. Responsible for insuring the facility environmental finishes are maintained
a. 2-5 years previous experience in commercial setting required; hospital setting preferred. Working knowledge in cooling, heating systems, electrical trouble shooting, mechanical system, and general plumbing and carpentry experience.
