POSITION SUMMARY

The Meal Site Worker performs daily meal service duties at congregate meal sites for older adults to assist with facilitating the nutrition program for the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).

Schedule is Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 12:30 pm and 2nd & 4th Tuesdays from 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applies knowledge of restaurant code sanitation standards to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the assigned daily congregate meal site; assists in full meal service operations to include setup, service, clean up, meal ordering, and delivery; follows sanitation and safe food handling policies and procedures; orders and picks up food and supplies from ADRC.
  • Exercises ability to understand and follow written instructions to assure adherence to program policies and procedures and menu compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, volunteers, meal site participants, and the public using a trauma informed model of service; informs participants and others about services provided by the ADRC and other community agencies; reports perceived changes in participant appearance, behavior, or other problem areas to ADRC Manager.
  • Utilizes knowledge of safeguarding measures to ensure secure handling and confidentiality of donations; communicates donation policies to participants; ensures the safeguarding and pick-up of donations from meal sites.
  • Practices personal safety knowledge to perform basic first aid and notify emergency services.
  • Uses skills in preparing and maintaining basic records and reports to assist the ADRC with routine record keeping including participant registration, meal reservations, and Meals on Wheels route updating.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of criminal and caregiver background checks.
  • Position does require a pre-employment physical
  • Must have valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and access to private transportation for work-related duties.
  • Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.

DESIRED TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary education or formal training in the food service field.
  • Experience interacting with older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with providing basic first aid; first aid certification.
