Job Summary
- Seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer to support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) programs
- The successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise across the full system lifecycle while integrating secure software engineering principles into enterprise architectures
- This role involves implementing advanced software security techniques, evaluating system architectures for security vulnerabilities, developing engineering solutions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable mission systems
- The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with secure software development, enterprise architecture, Linux-based environments, and modern software engineering practices, along with the ability to mentor technical teams on secure design and implementation
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze system requirements and develop engineering solutions that align with mission objectives, technical architectures, and cybersecurity requirements
- Design, implement, test, and support secure system architectures in accordance with established technical reference architectures and engineering standards
- Perform ongoing security testing, vulnerability assessments, and code reviews to improve software security and system resilience
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex system and software issues affecting performance, reliability, or security
- Develop engineering designs and technical recommendations that mitigate security vulnerabilities and improve overall system architecture
- Contribute across all architectural layers, including application, infrastructure, data, networking, and security components
- Collaborate with software engineers, cybersecurity personnel, systems administrators, and government stakeholders to develop secure, integrated solutions
- Provide technical guidance on secure coding practices, software security principles, and emerging technologies
- Develop, maintain, and review engineering documentation, system designs, interface specifications, architecture diagrams, and technical procedures
- Evaluate emerging tools, technologies, and engineering best practices to improve system performance, maintainability, and security
- Participate in system integration, testing, operational deployment, and lifecycle sustainment activities
- Support architecture reviews, engineering analyses, and technical planning activities throughout the system lifecycle
Required Qualifications
- Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
- Minimum of twenty (20) years of experience supporting software engineering or systems engineering efforts on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university
- Four (4) additional years of directly related Software Engineering or Systems Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement
- Experience designing and implementing secure software or system architectures
- Experience performing software security testing, code reviews, and vulnerability analysis
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex software and system integration issues
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of six (6) years of production software development experience within the past eight (8) years supporting Linux or Solaris environments
- Minimum of six (6) years of software development experience using Java, C, or C++
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and enterprise web services
- Experience with Open Source NoSQL technologies, including HBase, Apache Accumulo, Bigtable, or similar distributed database platforms
- Experience supporting secure software development and enterprise system integration
- Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and modern DevSecOps practices
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community programs
Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
