About the Position
This job opportunity is in the Medical Examiners Office in OXFORD, MS, in LAFAYETTE COUNTY. The Forensic Lab Technician supports medicolegal death investigation by managing histology and specialty pathology send-outs, maintaining chain of custody in the office data management system, processing toxicology screening on the Randox Analyzer, handling legal holds and evidence preservation, and assisting autopsy staff as needed. Accuracy, documentation, and timely communication with forensic pathologists are essential to this role. Work is performed in a forensic laboratory and autopsy suite. The position involves handling human remains, tissues, slides, cassettes, and biohazardous materials. The employee must follow all safety, quality, chain-of-custody, and confidentiality requirements of the State Medical Examiner's Office.
