MDC Technician

The Mobile Data Computing (MDC) Technician will actively contribute to MDC support operations. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to MDC hardware and software deployment, patch management, configuration management, lifecycle management, access management, service request fulfillment, consulting the Infrastructure Manager on MDC operations and metrics, assisting in the development and implementation of policy and procedures governing MDC operations.Located in south-central Pennsylvania, York County Government offers many exciting and challenging opportunities to learn and grow in a career while making a difference in the lives of York County residents. York County offers a competitive wage and benefit package.· Serves as technical resource for MDC support operations addressing requests within service level agreements and defined uptime requirements.

• Provide end user support to resolve hardware, application, and access issues.
• Maintain integrity and conduct approved changes to MDC configuration and architecture.
• Conduct MDC hardware, firmware, and software patch management.
• Conduct the deployment of MDC hardware and software.
• Assist with lifecycle management to include identifying replacement hardware and the decommissioning of assets following established procedures.
• Maintain configuration management platforms and systems.
• Participate in incident management, service request fulfillment, change management, and asset management.
• Participate in establishing technical standards for MDC systems and services.
• Create and maintain documentation for MDC administration including topology, standards, and procedures.
• Implement and maintain relevant monitoring and reporting systems to align with established metrics and performance objectives.
• Assist third party vendors for MDC technology and services.
• Maintain working knowledge of IT operations and functions.
• Prepare and present pertinent project material.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Work on special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• At least 6 months of employment with the York County IT department or 6 months of MDC or Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) support experience.
• Familiar with current MDC operations support best practices.
• Familiar with MDC/CAD, Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft 365, endpoint hardware, and networking concepts.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and staff from other County departments.
• Able to perform effectively under pressure and in high-stress environments.
• Capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Proven team player with a collaborative mindset.
• Understanding of York County Government's operational model, processes, and strategic goals.
• Completion of a Pennsylvania Criminal Background check and fingerprinting, required for all employees in this role.
