Position Summary
The MCSO Public Information Manager serves as a lead of the MCSO Public Information Office whose primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, proactively responding to the public, internal and external media requests, drafting and creating marketing materials in response to requests or to inform the public of new programs or events, and performing a variety of administrative activities, and both social and mainstream media monitoring for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office (MCSO).
The Public Information Manager serves as a communications advisor to MCSO leadership and staff and is responsible for outreach, public information, website content and communication support for divisions across the organization. The Public Information Manager crafts internal and external communications, including press releases, coordinates press conferences, as well as writes, edits, and reviews reports, presentations and other documents that are communicated internally and externally.
The ideal candidate is bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish), self-motivated, a team player, takes initiative and can be trusted to work independently and will represent the Sheriff's Office in a professional manner as a spokesperson. Please note, flexibility in schedule and the ability to work nights and weekends is required in order to attend community events or in response to critical public safety incidents as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Media or related field and three years of public relations experience. This position requires a valid driver's license.
