About the Opportunity
A well-established boutique litigation law firm in Midtown Manhattan is seeking an experienced Matrimonial Attorney to join its matrimonial and family law practice.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling divorce and matrimonial litigation and be comfortable managing cases independently while working collaboratively with a supportive legal team.
Key Responsibilities
Independently prepare for and appear in court on behalf of clients.
Handle preliminary conferences, status conferences, compliance conferences, hearings, and trials.
Manage divorce and matrimonial matters from initial consultation through resolution.
Conduct legal research and prepare legal briefs, memoranda, motions, and pendente lite applications.
Manage all aspects of pre-trial discovery.
Draft and respond to discovery demands.
Take and defend depositions and examinations before trial (EBTs).
Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness preparation, and direct and cross-examination preparation.
Prepare statements of proposed disposition and pretrial memoranda.
Develop effective legal strategies for complex divorce and child custody matters.
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active New York Bar admission.
Approximately 5–8 years of matrimonial law experience preferred.
Strong experience handling divorce matters.
Demonstrated courtroom and litigation experience.
Experience handling cases through hearings and/or trial.
Experience with discovery, depositions, EBTs, and motion practice.
Familiarity with matrimonial practice in New York City, Nassau County, and/or Suffolk County.
Strong legal writing, communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Ability to independently manage a caseload while working effectively with a team.
Must be able to work onsite in Midtown Manhattan.
