Mathematics Instructor – Full-time-Liberty Campus

Savannah Technical College seeks a full-timeMathematicsInstructor. The successful candidate will be based at theLibertyCampus,butmay beto travel to and teach classes at anySavannah Technical College campus location. This individual will report totheMathematicsDepartment Head in the General Studies Division. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Instructing students, developing program syllabi, goals,andobjectives;

• Evaluating students’ progress inattaininggoals andobjectives;

• Ensuring student learning outcomes areattainedand appropriately recorded;

• Requesting andmaintainingsupplies and equipment;

• Preparing andmaintainingall required documentation and administrative reports;

• Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops,seminarsand conferences;

• Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom area;

• Advising students;

• Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss instructional programs and other issuesimpactingthe progress of students; 

Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture,laboratory,student advisement and registration.Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching daysbetween campus locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degreeinMathematics,oraMaster’sdegree in aclosely relateddisciplinewitha minimum of18graduatesemesterhours inMathematics,from a regionally accredited college or university

• A minimum of 12 months documented experience in teaching Mathat a regionally accredited postsecondary institution

• Excellent human-relations, interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly Word,andExcel

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mathematics.

• Prefer three years of full-time, paidpostsecondary teaching experience

• Proficient in the use of Bannerand Blackboard

• Active participation inappropriate professional/occupationalorganizations 

Physical Demands

Responsibilities are typically performed in an office or classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for up to three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employeefrequentlylifts lightweight objects up to 25LBS.Fullrange of hand and finger motion may beutilizedfor data entry purposes.

Salary/BenefitsSalary is competitive and commensurate with education and work experience.  Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package. Positions are contingent upon funding.
