Position Overview

ACCEL Academy, recognized throughout for its forward-thinking and progressive culture, is seeking a Math Instructional Coach.The Math Instructional Coach serves as an instructional leader responsible for improving mathematics teaching and learning across MAEF Public Charter Schools. The Math Instructional Coach works collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, and district personnel to strengthen instructional practices, increase student achievement, and support the implementation of high-quality mathematics curriculum, assessment, and intervention programs. The Math Instructional Coach provides professional development, coaching, modeling, and data analysis support to ensure that all students achieve at high levels in mathematics.

Essential Functions:

Instructional Leadership

  • Support the implementation of MAEF's mathematics curriculum, instructional framework, and academic standards.

  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers to improve mathematics instruction and student outcomes.

  • Model research-based instructional strategies and best practices in mathematics classrooms.

  • Facilitate the implementation of rigorous, standards-aligned lessons and assessments.

  • Support vertical alignment of mathematics instruction across grade levels.

Coaching and Teacher Support

  • Conduct classroom observations and provide timely, constructive feedback to teachers.

  • Develop individualized coaching plans for teachers based on instructional needs and student performance data.

  • Model lessons, co-teach, and provide model teaching as needed.

  • Support new and struggling teachers through mentoring and instructional coaching.

  • Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Data Analysis and Student Achievement

  • Analyze student assessment data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.

  • Facilitate data meetings with teachers and administrators.

  • Assist in developing intervention plans for students who are not meeting proficiency expectations.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and instructional strategies.

  • Support school improvement goals related to mathematics achievement.

Professional Development

  • Design and deliver professional learning opportunities focused on mathematics instruction.

  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and collaborative planning sessions.

  • Provide training on instructional strategies, curriculum implementation, assessment practices, and data analysis.

  • Maintain current knowledge of mathematics education research and best practices.

Curriculum and Assessment Support

  • Assist in curriculum review, development, and alignment efforts.

  • Support the development and implementation of formative and summative assessments.

  • Ensure instructional materials and resources align with state standards and MAEF expectations.

  • Assist teachers in lesson planning and curriculum mapping.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with principals, instructional leaders, interventionists, and teachers.

  • Participate in leadership meetings, curriculum meetings, and school improvement planning.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding instructional initiatives and student achievement goals.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate coaching logs and documentation.

  • Attend district and school professional development activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, or Principal.

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.

Certification

  • Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.

  • Mathematics certification preferred.

  • Instructional leadership certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement in mathematics.

  • Experience facilitating professional development and coaching teachers preferred.

  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and data analysis preferred.

Terms:

Twelve (12) month 240-day contract with a salary established by the Board in terms of the Administrative Provisions and based on experience and qualifications.

Salary: $65,000-80,000

Additional salary is based on years of experience and degrees.

Performance incentives based upon network academic performance.

Benefits: Full-time employees receive health benefits through the Alabama Public Education Employees' Health Insurance Program (PEEHIP) and retirement benefits through the Alabama Teacher Retirement System.
