Job Description Summary
The Lead Faculty - Maternal and Women's Health Nursing will serve as a full-time nursing faculty member and content-area leader within the Nursing Department at Forsyth Tech. This position provides leadership, coordination, instruction, and curriculum oversight for maternal and women's health nursing content across the Nursing Department and applicable nursing pathways.
The Lead Faculty member will support, coordinate, and provide leadership for the maternal health curriculum; ensure consistency and quality in didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning experiences; and work collaboratively with nursing faculty, program coordinators, and adjunct faculty to promote student success.
In addition to the responsibilities of a full-time nursing faculty member, the Lead Faculty member will have primary responsibility for coordinating, overseeing, and leading the maternal and women's health content area. The position will provide instruction and clinical supervision as assigned and serve as a resource and mentor for faculty teaching within the maternal health curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
You must possess the following:
- Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
- Two academic years of experience teaching in a nursing program.
- Two calendar years, or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Work experience and/or teaching experience in Women's Health, Maternal Health, Newborn, Pediatrics, or a closely related area of nursing practice.
- Preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, prior to or within the first three years of employment, consistent with North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements.
- Ability to transport self to multiple clinical agencies within the workday.
- Ability to work collaboratively with full-time and adjunct faculty, clinical partners, and nursing leadership.
- Ability and willingness to teach day, evening, hybrid, and multi-modality offerings across nursing pathways and campus locations as needed.
- Maintain competence in areas of assigned responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
We would prefer you also possess:
- Master's Degree or higher in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Education.
- Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
- Demonstrated experience teaching maternal, women's health, newborn, and/or pediatric nursing content.
- Experience coordinating clinical experiences and clinical faculty assignments.
- Experience providing leadership, mentorship, or coordination for nursing faculty.
- Experience in curriculum development, testing, assessment, and evaluation.
- Experience with simulation and/or other innovative instructional methodologies.
- Experience with distance learning or alternative instructional delivery methods.

Position Expectations
The Lead Faculty - Maternal and Women's Health Nursing is expected to balance the responsibilities of a full-time nursing faculty member with content-area leadership responsibilities. The position serves as the primary faculty leader and resource for maternal and women's health nursing and works collaboratively with nursing leadership and faculty to ensure high-quality, consistent, and effective student learning experiences.
Maternal and Women's Health Leadership
- Support, coordinate, and provide leadership for the maternal health curriculum across the Nursing Department at Forsyth Tech.
- Serve as the lead faculty member for the maternal and women's health content area.
- Provide leadership and coordination to promote consistency, quality, and alignment of maternal health content across applicable nursing courses and pathways.
- Collaborate with program coordinators, curriculum faculty, and nursing leadership regarding the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of maternal and women's health curriculum.
- Serve as a content-area expert and resource for faculty teaching maternal and women's health nursing concepts.
- Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of maternal and women's health curriculum, course objectives, learning activities, and student outcomes.
- Support curriculum alignment with program outcomes, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and current nursing practice.
Clinical Coordination
- Be responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing clinical schedules for maternal health courses.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical agencies and partners supporting maternal and women's health learning experiences.
- Coordinate clinical placements and faculty assignments in collaboration with program coordinators and nursing leadership.
- Assist in identifying, evaluating, and maintaining appropriate maternal health clinical learning experiences for students.
- Monitor clinical capacity and scheduling needs and communicate concerns and opportunities to nursing leadership.
- Support compliance with clinical agency requirements and ensure appropriate coordination of student clinical experiences.
Faculty Leadership and Support
- Work closely with and provide guidance to adjunct faculty and other assigned maternal health courses.
- Orient, mentor, and serve as a resource for adjunct and full-time faculty teaching maternal and women's health content.
- Promote consistency in course implementation, student expectations, learning activities, clinical experiences, and evaluation methods.
- Assist faculty in interpreting course outcomes, implementing instructional strategies, and addressing student learning needs.
- Collaborate with faculty to identify opportunities for remediation, student support, and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate communication among faculty teaching maternal and women's health content across nursing pathways.
Teaching and Learning
- Assume responsibility for teaching assignments as recommended by the appropriate program coordinator and approved by nursing leadership.
- Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing instructional activities that are appropriate, meaningful, and aligned with course outcomes.
- Provide didactic, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical instruction and supervision as assigned.
- Adhere to departmental course guidelines and ensure assigned content supports approved program and course competencies.
- Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course and learning outcomes.
- Meet with students regarding academic progress and provide appropriate support and referral when needed.
- Maintain all required college and departmental records, including attendance and grade documentation.
Curriculum Development and Quality Improvement
- Assist in the maintenance, review, and updating of course descriptions, objectives, outlines, learning activities, and assessments related to maternal and women's health nursing.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing curriculum.
- Use student outcomes, assessment data, faculty feedback, and current nursing practice to support continuous curriculum improvement.
- Participate in departmental activities related to revising and updating nursing curriculum within the area of expertise.
- Collaborate with faculty and nursing leadership to ensure appropriate integration of maternal and women's health concepts throughout the nursing curriculum.
Advising and Student Success
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of student admission, progression, and graduation requirements.
- Advise and support assigned students.
- Follow up with assigned advisees and participate in department, division, and college-wide advising activities.
- Support student success through early identification of learning needs and appropriate remediation or referral.
Professional Development
- Maintain current licensure, certification, and professional credentials required for the position.
- Maintain current knowledge of maternal, women's, and nursing practice.
- Participate in professional development activities related to nursing education, maternal health, curriculum development, simulation, assessment, and student success.
- Maintain membership and participation in appropriate professional organizations.
- Keep abreast of current technology and evidence-based practices in nursing education.
Institutional and Community Service
- Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
- Attend required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
- Serve on committees and participate in college-wide activities as assigned.
- Maintain relationships with clinical and community partners relevant to maternal and women's health nursing.
- Assist with advisory committee activities and other community engagement opportunities as appropriate.
