Job TitleRequired Education• High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience.Preferred Education• An associate's degree or certification may be required depending on the region.Required Certification• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.Required Skills:• Data Acquisition: Prepares samples, verifies equipment calibration, and performs tests according to approved procedures.• Data Reporting: Prepares documentation that clearly organizes testing methods, instrument settings, data, and analysis.• Material Characterization: Interprets mechanical, chemical, microstructural, and physical properties using lab equipment.• Collaborates: Builds partnerships and works collaboratively to meet shared objectives.• Communicates Effectively: Delivers multi-mode communications that convey clear understanding of needs.• Customer Focus: Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions.• Decision Quality: Makes good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.• Nimble Learning: Actively learns through experimentation and uses successes/failures as learning fodder.Preferred Skills:• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.• Strong communication skills to interact with the engineering group.• Self-starter, process-oriented, very organized, able to multitask.• Capable of test stand installation, troubleshooting, setup/teardown, and maintenance of lab equipment.Job Responsibilities• Operates analytical instruments and equipment and performs physical analysis in support of production/non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.• Prepares samples and specimens for testing using standard laboratory techniques, procedures, or work instructions.• Acquires and interprets data and documents results; provides written results in lab or technical report format.• Develops and documents laboratory methods.• Performs routine calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of instruments and equipment.• Coordinates the collection, transportation, and documentation of chemical waste disposal.• Works with and trains apprentices, trainees, and technicians.• Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.• Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.• Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.• Participates in improvement projects.• Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.• Participates in self and team audits and associated corrective action.• Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.• Performs laboratory tests, develops test plans, and summarizes test data for engineering reports.• Works in the Vibration and Materials Lab supporting daily testing for product development (PPT) and DVP&R for VPI programs.• Provides support on vibration and materials lab test stands and other non-standard testing.• Manages test load independently.• Demonstrates understanding of test equipment functioning and its contribution to valid test results.• Understands functioning of product under test to assess contribution to test result validity.• Evaluates test results and generates test reports including graphical data representation and historical interpretation.• Supports development of test procedures and calibration plans.• Performs non-standard tests associated with vibration and materials products.• Supports other lab areas as needed.
