Materials Manager - Metro Detroit, Michigan
Day Shift - Pay: $60k-$80k per year


Job Summary of the Materials Manager:
Our customer is seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager to oversee management through their ERP system. You will oversee material planning, purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling, and material flow within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities of the Materials Manager:
  • Manage material planning, purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling, and shipping/receiving activities
  • Ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer demand
  • Monitor inventory levels, shortages, customer releases, and supplier deliveries
  • Work with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, lead-time, and material availability issues
  • Maintain accurate inventory and MRP/ERP system information
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality Engineering, and Operations to resolve material and scheduling concerns
  • Monitor supplier performance, inventory accuracy, premium freight, and on-time delivery
  • Identify opportunities to reduce inventory, material costs, and supply-chain disruptions
  • Lead and develop Materials, Planning, Purchasing, and Shipping/Receiving personnel as assigned

Qualifications of the Materials Manager:
  • 4+ years of progressive manufacturing and operations experience in precision metal parts
  • Strong grasp of blueprint reading, metallurgy, raw material procurement, and CNC operations (saw cutting, turning, milling, grinding)
  • Experience planning in a low-volume, high-mix, high-complexity environment
  • Solid knowledge of ERP systems
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Fluency in Lean tools (APQP, Standardized Work, 5S, etc.) preferred
