Salary: $95,000+ annually (based on experience)
We are seeking an experienced Material Manager to lead purchasing, materials planning, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and supplier management functions within our manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules while maintaining inventory targets, managing supplier performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Material Manager will lead cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with Production, Sales, Quality, Inventory Control, and Accounting to support business objectives.
Lead and develop the Purchasing, Planning, Inventory Control, and Shipping/Receiving teams.
Establish departmental goals aligned with inventory requirements, production demands, and company objectives.
Manage procurement activities to ensure timely material availability while maintaining inventory targets.
Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and service agreements.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support operational and strategic needs.
Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to improve cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Oversee Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal departments to ensure uninterrupted production.
Review and approve purchasing decisions, supplier selections, and procurement strategies.
Resolve material shortages, supplier issues, and supply chain disruptions.
Ensure accurate purchasing and inventory transactions within the ERP system.
Track and report key performance indicators related to purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance.
Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives across the supply chain.
Strong knowledge of purchasing, materials management, inventory control, planning, and supply chain operations.
Experience negotiating supplier contracts and managing vendor relationships.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of inventory forecasting and performance metrics.
Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Must be eligible to work with ITAR-controlled data.
Experience within electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, EMS, or other high-tech manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with electronic components and related supply chain requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
5 7 years of progressive experience in purchasing, materials management, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Electronics manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
Occasional bending, squatting, and reaching.
Ability to travel as needed to support supplier relationships and procurement activities.
