Description

Materials & Inventory Planner

Pay: $75k+ annually

Full-Time M-F

We are seeking a proactive Materials & Inventory Planner for a high-volume manufacturing client. In this critical role, you will manage raw material and packaging supply, run daily MRP, and manage purchase orders under negotiated supplier contracts. You will be directly accountable for maintaining precise inventory records to ensure seamless production execution.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role—not a data-entry position. The ideal candidate blends strategic planning with on-the-floor investigation to resolve inventory discrepancies, manage supplier commitments, and safeguard against production delays.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute rolling multi-month MRP forecasts, convert planned orders into POs, manage supplier contracts, track inbound deliveries, and adjust parameters (safety stock, lead times, reorder points) as demand shifts.
  • Monitor open POs, expedite or reschedule deliveries, resolve receipt discrepancies, and escalate performance or pricing risks to Procurement.
  • Design and manage the plant cycle-count program, audit daily system transactions, investigate root causes of variances (e.g., BOM errors, mis-scans, backflushing issues), and maintain clear audit trails for inventory adjustments.
  • Build custom ERP saved searches/reports to track inventory accuracy KPIs and flag aging, excess, or short-dated materials before they become write-offs.
  • Partner closely with Production, Scheduling, Warehouse, Quality, and Finance to ensure operational alignment, support new product launches, and assist with audits or traceability exercises.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Required:

  • 3+ years of materials planning, purchasing, or inventory control experience within a manufacturing environment (Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on MRP/ERP system experience in manufacturing. Experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred; proficiency in SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, or similar ERP systems is accepted.
  • Solid understanding of multi-level BOMs, work orders, backflushing, lead-time planning, and lot-controlled inventory.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to trace system discrepancies to physical processes on the plant floor.

 Preferred:

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or equivalent experience; APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM/CSCP) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in frozen/refrigerated manufacturing or temperature-controlled/perishable environments.
  • Exposure to food safety/quality standards (GMPs, HACCP, allergen control, GFSI/SQF/BRC audits).
  • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma root-cause methodologies and mobile barcode scanning systems.

 Pay & Benefits:

  • $75k+ annually, depending on experience
  • Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance. 401(k). PTO and more.
