We are seeking an experienced Materials Engineer with strong expertise in thin-film materials, optical coatings, and thin-film deposition processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with sputtering and evaporation processes used to manufacture optical thin-film products.
This position will serve as a senior technical resource supporting multiple projects and will work closely with Program Managers, manufacturing teams, customers, vendors, and engineering personnel.
Develop, optimize, and support thin-film materials and deposition processes for optical products.
Design and improve sputtering and evaporation processes and equipment.
Support production and manufacturing activities involving optical thin-film coatings.
Apply thin-film design and modeling tools to develop and optimize coating designs.
Analyze process and product data to identify issues and drive fact-based improvements.
Utilize advanced analytical and metrology equipment for materials and thin-film characterization.
Serve as a primary technical contact for internal Program Managers across multiple projects.
Collaborate with customers, vendors, manufacturing technicians, and engineering teams.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to entry-level engineers and manufacturing technicians.
Troubleshoot materials, process, and manufacturing issues and develop effective corrective actions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on quality, efficiency, and disciplined execution.
12+ years of experience in materials engineering, process engineering, thin films, optical coatings, or a closely related field.
Extensive experience with thin-film materials and processes.
Strong experience with sputtering and evaporation deposition techniques.
Experience developing or manufacturing optical thin-film based products.
Experience with one or more thin-film design tools such as:TFCalc
OptiLayer
FilmStar
FilmWizard
Competency with advanced analytical and thin-film metrology tools.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, program managers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical leadership.
