Material Handler

Roles and Responsibilities of the Material Handler: Tag, label, and properly locate material and properly weigh and scan material in and out of inventory. Remove all previously run parts and material from the press (This includes cleaning any parts from the rails and oil catch trays on the press).

Material Handler - Rochester Hills, Michigan
$17.00 per hour

This position will require approximately 90-days of training on 1st shift, and then transition to a custom 2nd Shift- 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Temp to permanent position


Position Summary of the Material Handler:
Responsible for keeping the molding machine supplied with proper materials as identified in company processes. This includes planning for drying time as required and using extreme care during handling to ensure quality of material and products.


Roles and Responsibilities of the Material Handler:

• Tag, label, and properly locate material and properly weigh and scan material in and out of inventory
• Maintain accurate records of lot numbers run on the material sign out sheet and the daily material checklist
• Provide information to Shift Mentor and/or Production Team Leader about possible issues with materials such as low inventory or contamination
• Clean the hoppers, granulators, and dryers
• Remove all previously run parts and material from the press (This includes cleaning any parts from the rails and oil catch trays on the press)
• Sort contained non-conforming product
• Keep area and material selection clean and free of clutter
• Assist machine tender as needed
• Must support MT running machines or doing Bagging/Tagging as needed
• Assist with daily Raw Material & Colorant cycle counts as required
• Assist with physical inventory as needed
• Has authority to stop the process if nonconforming or suspect material is found
• Must be able to work OT & weekends as required
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements of the Material Handler:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years experience as a Material Handler
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Required Skills of the Material Handler:

• Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience operating a forklift, pallet jack, and other auxiliary equipment, desired
• Familiarity with an Electronic Document Management System, helpful
• Familiarity with inventory systems, highly desired
• Familiarity with material loading equipment, ideally
• 5S Philosophy, helpful
• Ability to work closely with others in a collaborative team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Professional demeanor and ethical conduct, including handling confidential information appropriately
