    Summary
    We are seeking a reliable and safety-minded Yard Jockey to manage the movement of trailers throughout our facility. In this role, you will operate a yard truck or terminal tractor to safely reposition, park, and organize trailers within the yard, as well as move them into and out of designated shop and loading dock bays. Working closely with the warehouse and maintenance teams, you will keep the property organized, conduct basic equipment checks, and ensure an efficient flow of fleet traffic. The ideal candidate is a highly alert driver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and prioritizes workplace safety.
     
    Job Duties:
    • Safely operate a yard truck, spotter truck, or terminal tractor to move trailers around the property.
    • Move trailers accurately into and out of shop bays for maintenance, or loading docks for warehouse operations.
    • Couple and uncouple trailers, including raising and lowering landing gear and connecting or disconnecting air and electrical lines.
    • Maintain an organized yard layout, ensuring trailers are parked in their designated areas and fire lanes remain clear.
    • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the yard truck and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
    • Inspect incoming and outgoing trailers for visible damage, secure doors, and verify trailer numbers against yard logs.
    • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and shop technicians via two-way radio or digital tracking systems.
    • Adhere strictly to all facility safety rules, speed limits, and personal protective equipment policies.
    • Shipping and receiving as required.
    ​Job Requirements:
    • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
    • Proven experience operating a yard truck, spotter, tractor-trailer, or heavy equipment.
    • Valid driver license required; a commercial driver license (CDL Class A) is highly preferred for any public road movement.
    • Strong spatial awareness and backing skills, with the ability to maneuver large trailers into tight spaces safely.
    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and climb in and out of the cab repeatedly during a shift.
    • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with various departments within the organization 
    • Must be proficient in MS Excel and accounting software. MAS500 experience a plus
    • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs
    • Uses forklift to move materials 
    • Overhead Gantry and loader experience preferred
    • Must be capable of handling stock with care 
    • Frequently required to balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch and occasionally climbs ladder
