Job Title: Material Handler


Job Description


This role supports a first-shift manufacturing operation by handling sheet metal and operating equipment to bend, cut, or punch holes in materials. You will move materials throughout the facility, support shipping and receiving, and ensure products are processed accurately and safely.


Responsibilities


+ Handle sheets of metal and operate equipment to bend, cut, or punch holes according to specifications.

+ Operate a sit-down forklift safely to move materials within the facility.

+ Load and unload trucks for shipping and receiving activities.

+ Support material handling operations to ensure efficient flow of materials through production.

+ Use basic Microsoft Excel skills to enter, track, or review material and shipping information.

+ Assist with general shipping and receiving tasks as needed, including staging and organizing materials.

+ Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.


Essential Skills


+ Proficiency operating a sit-down forklift.

+ Experience loading and unloading trucks for shipping and receiving.

+ Material handling experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

+ Basic Microsoft Excel knowledge for simple data entry or tracking tasks.

+ Ability to work safely around heavy steel and metal fabrication equipment.

+ Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and positioning metal materials.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience using an overhead crane for material movement.

+ Experience in shipping and receiving operations.

+ Familiarity with laser operation and laser cutting processes.

+ Experience with press brake machines for bending metal.

+ Experience operating punch press or similar metalworking machinery.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints for metal fabrication.

+ Experience with machining operations and using tools such as calipers for measurement.

+ Exposure to sandblasting and grinding processes in a metal fabrication environment.

Work Environment


This position is based in a heavy steel manufacturing facility focused on the fabrication of steel and metal products. The environment involves working around large equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, press brakes, punch presses, lasers, and other metalworking machinery. The facility can become hot during the summer months due to the nature of steel manufacturing. This is a first-shift role, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch and one paid 10-minute break. The culture centers on honesty, integrity, and respect, with a strong focus on safety and quality in all operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
