Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join a warehouse and yard operation in Oklahoma City. This position combines sit-down forklift operation, heavy material handling, and basic inventory data entry.

The ideal candidate has previous forklift experience, is comfortable manually handling heavy steel drums, and has the computer skills necessary to accurately track inventory and shipments. This position works both outdoors and inside a non-climate-controlled warehouse, so candidates must be comfortable working in varying temperatures and weather conditions.




Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year of sit-down forklift experience required
• Ability to repeatedly lift and move 50+ lbs
• Previous material handling or warehouse experience preferred
• Basic computer and data-entry skills
• Microsoft Excel experience is a strong plus
• Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy
• Ability to safely handle heavy steel drums
• Comfortable working outdoors and in a non-climate-controlled warehouse
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow established procedures
• Must successfully complete required drug screening and background check
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic




Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate a sit-down forklift to move, transport, and stage steel drums
• Load, unload, position, and organize materials throughout the yard and warehouse
• Manually lift and handle heavy drums and materials as required
• Verify materials and inventory before movement or shipment
• Perform basic data entry to track inventory, shipments, and material movement
• Use Microsoft Excel and other computer systems to maintain accurate records
• Assist with organizing and maintaining inventory locations
• Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or safety concerns
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard environment
• Follow all company forklift, material-handling, and workplace safety procedures
• Perform additional warehouse and material-handling duties as assigned




Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience handling steel drums or other heavy industrial materials
• Warehouse, distribution, or industrial yard experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Inventory tracking or shipping and receiving experience
• Experience working in outdoor material-handling environments
• Strong computer and data-entry abilities




Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and move 50+ lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to safely enter and exit forklift equipment throughout the workday
• Ability to manually handle heavy drums and materials when required
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions




Work Environment

• Combination of outdoor industrial yard and non-climate-controlled warehouse
• Regular operation of sit-down forklifts around steel drums and heavy materials
• Exposure to seasonal heat, cold, and changing weather conditions
• Physically demanding environment requiring frequent material movement
• Position combines hands-on material handling with computer-based inventory and shipment tracking
