Job Title: Material Handler/Forklift Operator
Location: Burlington, NC
Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay: $18-$19
Job Summary:
Our Client is seeking a dependable Material Handler/Forklift Operator to safely move, load, unload, and organize heavy metal and industrial materials throughout the facility. This position requires strong safety awareness, forklift experience, and the ability to safely operate equipment while handling heavy loads.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts to safely transport heavy metal materials and equipment throughout the facility.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers containing heavy industrial materials.
- Move raw materials, finished products, steel/metal products, pallets, and other heavy materials to designated locations.
- Safely lift, transport, stage, and stack heavy loads using appropriate material-handling equipment.
- Combi Lift experience is a plus!
- Safely operate forklifts around other employees, equipment, and production areas.
- Verify materials and quantities against work orders, paperwork, or shipping documents.
- Stage materials for production and shipping.
- Inspect materials for visible damage and report discrepancies or damaged products.
- Maintain organized storage areas and ensure materials are properly secured.
- Assist with loading finished products for shipment.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and equipment operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform additional warehouse and material-handling duties as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous forklift experience required.
- Experience handling heavy loads/materials required.
- Combi Lift experience is a plus.
- Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, metal, steel, or industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and lift/move substantial loads.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Preferred Experience
- Steel or metal manufacturing experience
- Combi Lift operation
- Experience handling heavy or oversized materials
- Loading/unloading commercial trucks or trailers
- Material staging and inventory
- Shipping/receiving
- Forklift operation in a manufacturing or industrial environment
