Job Title: Material Handler (Lumber Yard)
Pay: $20.00/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – Finish (Mandatory overtime required; shifts may extend as late as 9:00 PM)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Material Handler to join our team at a busy lumber yard. This is a long-term opportunity with excellent benefits and growth potential. Candidates will begin in a banding role, with the opportunity to advance into a forklift operator position once trained and certified.
Key Responsibilities:
- Band and strap together pulled lumber and building materials for shipment
- Accurately pull orders using an RF scanner
- Perform heavy, repetitive lifting of lumber and materials (up to 80 lbs)
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Maintain organization of materials and staging areas
- Safely operate a forklift (after certification) to transport materials to packaging and staging areas
- Follow all safety procedures and workplace guidelines
Growth Opportunity:
- Start in a banding role to learn materials and processes
- Advance into a forklift operator position upon demonstrated proficiency and certification
Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs consistently throughout the shift
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime and flexible hours (up to 9:00 PM as needed)
- Previous warehouse, material handling, or lumber experience preferred
- RF scanner and/or forklift experience is a plus (not required to start)
- Strong reliability and attendance record
- Demonstrated longevity in previous positions is highly preferred
