    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Material Expeditor ensures production material, purchased components, and stored units move from the Waterford warehouse to the manufacturing plants in time to support scheduled work. The role actively monitors shortages, due dates, job and unit requirements, staging status, and interplant transfers. This is a hands-on position that requires safe and proficient Hi-Lo operation as an essential part of locating, staging, loading, unloading, and delivering material.
     
    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Review production priorities, material requirements, shortage reports, purchasing commitments, and warehouse availability to identify material requiring immediate action.
    • Coordinate with Buyers, Planning, Production, Shipping and Receiving, Program Management, suppliers, and transportation resources to resolve material constraints.
    • Expedite open purchase orders and supplier commitments when requested, documenting updated promise dates, quantities, shipment status, and risks.
    • Locate material within the warehouse and confirm part number, job, unit, quantity, condition, and storage location before movement.
    • Stage and transfer material and production units to the appropriate manufacturing plant or work area based on approved priorities and need dates.
    • Operate a Hi-Lo to unload, move, stage, load, and deliver material safely and efficiently.
    • Ensure all physical moves are supported by accurate labels, transfer documents, packing slips, and timely inventory transactions.
    • Identify shortages, missing material, damaged parts, incorrect quantities, and misplaced inventory; escalate issues with clear facts and recommended next actions.
    • Follow urgent material through receipt, inspection, storage, staging, transfer, and delivery to the manufacturing point of use.
    • Maintain a current expediting log or system record that identifies owner, commitment, risk, next action, and required date.
    • Support receiving and shipping activities during workload peaks, including verification, labeling, put-away, staging, and documentation.
    • Participate in material readiness reviews and communicate realistic status without overstating supplier or internal commitments.
    • Protect job and unit traceability when material is split, transferred, substituted, returned, or reallocated.
    • Support orderly warehouse storage, housekeeping, aisle control, and safe material handling practices.
    • Complete required Hi-Lo pre-use inspections and report equipment or safety concerns immediately.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support Shipping and Receiving and manufacturing operations.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in supply chain, logistics, inventory, or manufacturing preferred.
    • Three or more years of experience in expediting, material control, shipping and receiving, inventory, purchasing support, production control, or manufacturing preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate a sit-down industrial forklift/Hi-Lo safely and proficiently; current certification preferred, with ability to complete company-required qualification.
    • Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, job and unit identifiers, bills of material, shortage reports, and production schedules.
    • Experience with ERP or inventory systems and basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams preferred.
    • Strong follow-through, urgency, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing transaction accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and escalate risks early.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • Ability to work in an active warehouse and manufacturing environment with regular exposure to moving equipment, material handling activity, noise, and varying temperatures.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb on and off material handling equipment, and perform repetitive inventory or material handling tasks throughout the workday.
    • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds individually and use team lifting or mechanical assistance for heavier or awkward items.
    • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all site safety rules.
    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.

    This position is expected to support a disciplined, service-oriented warehouse operation. The employee must protect inventory accuracy, job and unit traceability, material condition, and safe movement while responding to changing production priorities. Attendance, reliability, teamwork, and timely communication are essential.
