Job Description

The Material Coordinator supports warehouse and production operations by safely transporting, receiving, storing, and staging materials while maintaining accurate inventory records. This role focuses on safe vehicle and equipment operation, careful handling of parts and supplies, and close coordination with production and planning teams to ensure materials are available when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner with a strong emphasis on quality.
• Follow all company and departmental procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
• Comply with all safety rules and maintain work areas and vehicles in a clean, orderly condition.
• Report any unusual conditions or situations in the warehouse, at suppliers, or in operations to the Lead Person or Supervisor.
• Drive company vehicles to and from suppliers to pick up and deliver parts and supplies as assigned.
• Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment and request assistance when necessary to handle heavy or awkward loads.
• Perform physical and visual inspections of vehicles such as trucks, forklifts, and power pallet lifters before use, make basic adjustments, and complete required inspection paperwork.
• Monitor vehicle performance during operation and report any unusual conditions or required maintenance to the Lead Person or Supervisor.
• Maintain all vehicle fluid levels to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Observe and report any unusual conditions at outside suppliers to the Lead Person or Supervisor.
• Perform in-shop functions when delivery and material handling duties are complete, as directed by the Lead Person or Supervisor.
• Safely operate powered fork trucks and lifts to move materials within the facility.
• Operate electronic scales to weigh parts going out to suppliers and to support inventory control.
• Perform periodic cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels throughout the year.
• Work with Production Control to coordinate components for released work orders, ensuring proper staging of materials.
• Report FCN (traceability) information to Production Planning for work order creation and follow FIFO (first-in, first-out) practices.
• Receive incoming parts for storage and distribute them to shelves, machines, or staging areas as required.
• Return overpull material back to stock in an organized and accurate manner.
• Review all related paperwork upon completion of tasks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Fill production work orders with the correct materials and quantities.
• Work with sawing, turning, and grinding machinery as needed to support production operations.
• Assist machine operators in safely lifting or moving parts during production and material handling activities.
• Perform general production and inspection tasks as needed to support overall operations.
• Support packing and picking activities to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Essential Skills

• Ability to perform material handling duties safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating powered fork trucks and lifts.
• Ability to drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver parts and supplies.
• Capability to load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Skill in performing physical and visual inspections of vehicles and equipment before use.
• Ability to operate electronic scales and accurately weigh parts and materials.
• Experience performing cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail for reviewing paperwork, verifying materials, and supporting inspection tasks.
• Ability to work with production control and planning teams to coordinate components for work orders.
• Capability to work around sawing, turning, and grinding machinery.
• Experience with general production, inspection, packing, and picking activities.
• Reliability in maintaining regular attendance and punctuality.
• Commitment to following safety rules and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with FIFO (first-in, first-out) material handling practices.
• Comfort working with traceability requirements such as FCN reporting.
• Ability to assist others in lifting or moving parts safely.
• Willingness to perform a mix of driving, warehouse, and in-shop tasks based on operational needs.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility with a warehouse and production floor environment. You will work Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The role involves frequent movement throughout the plant, including driving company vehicles, operating forklifts and powered lifts, and working around sawing, turning, and grinding machinery. You will regularly handle parts and materials, perform loading and unloading activities, and use electronic scales and other material handling equipment. The environment requires adherence to safety procedures and maintaining clean, orderly work areas and vehicles.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montgomery, IL.

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Montgomery,IL.
