The Green Bay Area Public School District is seeking a .5 Library Media Assistant team member interested in joining our knowledgeable and collaborative staff at Martin Elementary School.
This position will provide close collaboration with the Library Media Specialist to provide support to students and staff with technology, academic resources and more. This position will work a total of 17.5 hours/week. The schedule will be 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday and Friday (7.0 working hours/day) and 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Thursday (3.5 working hours/day). The scheduled days of the week, and hours, are subject to change based upon the educational, staffing, and safety needs of the District.
Martin Elementary School is a family-focused community school, located on the northeast side of Green Bay. Our school has a 4K - 5th grade enrollment of approximately 350 students. Martin teachers are experienced professionals with deep knowledge of research-based instruction, best teaching practices, and are genuinely interested in helping students reach their full potential. Martin Elementary School consistently scores above state test averages in all academic areas because of the high level of expectations and the support from families and the Martin staff.

Under the direction of the Library Media Specialist, the Library Media Assistant may be asked to do the following:
Collection and Resource Management:
Check out library media center books, textbooks, and materials according to the established library media center policies and procedures;
Process and repair books and magazines to make materials shelf-ready;
Withdraw worn and outdated books and any related records as directed by the library media specialist and according to district policy;
Barcode and enter resources in the Destiny database as directed by the library media specialist;
Shelve, straighten, and organize material on library media center shelves (which requires frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and lifting/moving up to 30 lbs);
Assist with library media center inventory;
Maintain and organize digital records for patrons and library checkouts using appropriate data information systems;
Perform ordering as needed;
Technology Management:
Support staff and students in the operation and troubleshooting of technology accounts, software and equipment as appropriate;
Submit technology repair requests when necessary (ie: help desk tickets);
Assign, distribute, and collect student devices and other technology equipment;
Maintain digital records of District technology assets using appropriate data information systems;
Maintain computer supplies, change printer cartridges and paper;
Monitor the cleanliness of the technology and library equipment;
Patron Services:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships;
Fill requests from building certified staff to support classroom instruction;
Work within a dynamic, changing environment with both fixed and flexibly scheduled classes and respond positively to changes;
Fulfill Interlibrary Loan requests in an accurate and timely manner.
Distribute all overdue notices and communicate with guardians as necessary and follow District library fine policies and procedures;
Assist students and staff in locating materials and in the use of the online library catalog;
Support students and staff in using electronic resources;
Arrange bulletin boards and other LMC displays as directed by the library media specialist;
Supervise groups of patrons to maintain a safe, effective, and respectful library media center space;
Assist in the supervision and training of volunteers in the library media center;
Schedule checkout times, room schedules, and meetings, as needed and notify those affected;
Maintain confidentiality with regard to colleagues, staff, students, and library circulation records;
Other Duties:
Communicate effectively and regularly with the library media specialist;
Participates and engages in Library Media Assistant meetings and stays abreast of important department communications;
Create and maintain a substitute folder; and
Perform other job-related tasks as directed by the supervisor.
