Position: Building Custodian
Reports to: Maintenance and Ground Supervisor
Employment Status: Full-time
Rate of Pay: Range based on experience, starting at $20.76 per hour
Description:
- Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
- Perform minor repairs, including, but not limited to, glass replacement, electrical repairs, wood repairs, painting, and metal repairs
- Maintain safety of building
- Maintain playground equipment
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on the heating system
- Operate and maintain the waste and sewage system
- Maintain school grounds and landscape
- Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/Head Maintenance/Superintendent
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Essential Functions:
- Perform general labor inside and outside the physical plant including district wide grounds keeping, handling materials and supplies, moving equipment, operating power-driver equipment, mowing, etc.
- Assist with custodial or maintenance duties
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all safety and code requirements of the federal, state, and local board of education guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivilant
- BCII report
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings, and labels
- Ability to operate machinery

- Carpentry tools
- Lawnmower
- Various hand tools and power tools
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
- Frequent travel between buildings and to get supplies
