COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• Pay: $20.00 per hour

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional weekend work as needed

ROLE IMPACTThe Marketing & Social Media Coordinator supports a municipal animal services organization by creating engaging digital content, managing social media platforms, and coordinating marketing campaigns that promote animal adoptions, fostering, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach. This role combines creativity, storytelling, and community engagement to increase public awareness and strengthen community relationships. The ideal candidate is comfortable photographing, filming, and interacting with animals in a shelter environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, schedule, and manage social media content across multiple platforms, including engaging posts, photos, videos, and stories highlighting adoptable animals, programs, and community initiatives.

• Photograph and film animals, staff, and events; create and edit multimedia content and design digital and print marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and video editing tools.

• Coordinate marketing campaigns, adoption events, volunteer initiatives, and community outreach activities while collaborating with internal departments and external partners.

• Monitor social media engagement, respond to public inquiries, track analytics and performance metrics, and recommend strategies to improve audience reach and engagement.

• Maintain consistent branding, accessibility standards, and organizational communication policies while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field required 

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, social media management, or digital content creation.

• Demonstrated ability to create engaging written and visual content, manage social media platforms, and safely interact with animals in a shelter environment.

CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS

• Social Media Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other digital communication channels

• Graphic Design: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva• Content Creation: Photography, videography, and video editing software

• Social Media Management: Content scheduling and publishing tools

• Analytics & Reporting: Social media insights, engagement metrics, and performance reporting

• Digital Communications: Website content management and multimedia storytelling

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Experience developing marketing campaigns, public awareness initiatives, or community engagement programs.

• Strong writing, editing, visual storytelling, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

• Experience working with animal shelters, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, or community outreach programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Onsite position requiring direct interaction with animals in a shelter environment.

• Must be comfortable working around animals while photographing, filming, and creating promotional content.

• Occasional weekend availability required for adoption events, community outreach, and special initiatives.
