Description

The Natural and Historical Resources Division (NHRD) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Marketing & Outreach Assistant to help connect local residents with nature and history experiences by supporting marketing campaigns, content creation, and community engagement efforts.

You'll assist with a variety of creative and administrative tasks that help make our program offerings more visible, accessible, and engaging to the community.

The ideal candidate is organized and systems-oriented-someone who understands how thoughtful design and clear communication can make it easier for our community to find and enjoy the programs we offer.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Support website updates and event calendar maintenance
  • Help manage email campaigns and outreach communications
  • Assist in the creation of promotional materials (flyers, digital ads, social media content)
  • Attend community events as a marketing ambassador
  • Capture and organize content from programs and events
  • Maintain marketing inventory and assist with administrative tasks
  • Become familiar with the division's many nature and history sites that offer public programming, to better support outreach and storytelling efforts

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends, with a willingness to travel between facilities.
  • Must have some knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Social Media platforms.
  • Must have basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar).
  • Must have a valid drivers license.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with platforms like Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, Sprout Social, and WordPress
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer service or event experience is a plus
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish)

Supplemental Information

May be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

This position accrues paid sick leave up to 40 hours/year. No other benefits are included. A background investigation will be completed prior to hire.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans

You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
