Job Description

Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

Position Summary:
The Marketing Assistant plays a hands-on role in sharing the college's story and connecting the campus with the surrounding rural community. This position supports the Marketing Director in executing multi-platform campaigns, maintaining the college brand, and helping to boost enrollment. This is an ideal role for an energetic, organized individual with some media skills, who is comfortable wearing many different hats.

Functional Responsibilities:
  • Capturing campus activity both in the context of daily happenings and also special events with both photography and videography.
  • Assist in specific targeted promotions by assignment.
  • Assist in planning, setting up, and promoting on-campus events (e.g., Registration Days, career Fairs) and working local outreach events.
  • Assist in press release writing.
  • Conduct student interviews and record testimonials.
  • Occasional video editing.
  • Flyer, brochure and hallway sign creation.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Basic proficiency in graphic design tools like Canva or the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Social media content creation skills with video (reels, stories, Instagram).
  • Written and verbal communication skills; ability to represent the college professionally.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A genuine appreciation for a rural community and the mission of ESCC.
