Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Chief of Consumer Marketing and the Head of Brand Strategy and Integrated Marketing (Supervisor II), with the lead of the Senior Marketing Specialist, the Marketing Analyst II develops and assists in the execution of brand strategy, integrated marketing and various advertising projects. The Marketing Analyst II works in collaboration with marketing agencies and cross-functional teams within Marketing to coordinate marketing plans, media plans and creative assets that are utilized in the Lottery's integrated marketing campaigns across traditional and digital channels such as TV, video, radio, streaming audio, out-of-home, digital advertising, as well as social media, retail marketing, events/experiential marketing, sponsorships, and the Lottery's owned channels and platforms. The Marketing Analyst II is responsible for reviewing, providing feedback, gathering input, and gaining program approval of creative, scripts, copy, estimates, and various other advertising and marketing materials.

This position is headquartered at the Sacramento Headquarters location and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: "telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a specialization in marketing, communications, or related field.

  • At least one year of Marketing Analyst I experience or two years of experience performing marketing duties involving planning, development, and evaluation of short-term marketing projects in marketing and advertising at client/brand or agency.

  • Working knowledge of advertising, media, graphic design, copywriting aesthetics and consumer/trade promotions, or related areas. Experience in marketing project management (brand, corporate agency or publisher side preferred).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders on project development. Ability to exert influence without direct authority.

  • Ability to review and interpret marketing metrics/data and analytical information and translate into actionable business results and recommendations. Ability to work independently; evaluate program issues, draw sound conclusions, and develop practical action plans.

  • Customer-centric marketing mindset, with an ability to maintain marketing calendars, draft marketing updates/reports and provide input on strategic marketing assets.

  • Self-motivated, curious, and passionate about marketing, knowledge of current and emerging marketing and advertising strategies and tactics with a passion for learning and innovation.

  • Experience managing and tracking budgets.

  • Experience with Microsoft programs including: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Bilingual skills are highly desirable, but not required.
