Under the guidance of the Staff Services Manager II and in partnership with the Senior Category Manager - Scratchers, the Category Analyst - Scratchers plays a key role in shaping the future of our Scratchers product portfolio.

What You'll Do:

Support Product Lifecycle: Perform game activations and end-of-game as the main user of CA Lottery Gaming System.

Develop Games: Support the strategy, planning, and execution of new Scratchers games-from concept to launch- implementing prize structures, playstyles, and themes.

Provide logistics support: Work closely with Warehouse, assisting them with the Scratchers deliveries tracking, error resolution and supporting logistics process.

Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with vendors, Warehouse, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to bring innovative games to market.

This position is headquartered at Sacramento Headquarters and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: "telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

Working Conditions

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm PST
  • Travel: This position is eligible for telework. Some travel may be required.
  • Other: Majority of work conducted in modern, climate-controlled office setting; overtime and travel (including overnight statewide travel) may be required. The Category Analyst should have a broad technical knowledge in product management, research, sales analysis, consumer advertising, collateral point-of-sale and promotional programs. Personal skills should include analysis, insight, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure and changing deadlines, to build and work as a team member, and to manage time and priorities.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Holds a bachelor's degree, preferably with a specialization in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Experience in Product Development with experience in developing and launching products, including product design, pricing, and positioning.
  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning/Software Platforms use for workflow and/or case management, including transaction processing, product rollouts, products tracking, and/or retailer network.
  • Status Tracking and Accurate Communication Skills with ability to analyze data, identify trends or issues, track and prioritize individual product timelines and generate accurate and timely communication to both internal and external teams.
  • Experience of Warehouse Support with experience in deliveries tracking, error resolution and supporting logistics process.
  • Proven ability to track projects, including product development and cross-functional coordination working effectively with both internal and external teams.
  • Skilled in supporting preparation and delivery of clear reports, presentations, and updates to various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Scratchers products, game mechanics, and the regulatory environment.
  • Ability to generate new game ideas, assess feasibility, and align with industry trends and consumer preferences.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records, game specifications, and filing.
