Kiewit Industrial Engineering (KIWE) is seeking a strategic market leader to drive growth across key industrial sectors including Process & Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, and Emerging Industrial Markets.
As the Market Director, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and shaping opportunities that position Kiewit for long-term growth. You will serve as the bridge between clients, market strategy, engineering, project development, and operations, helping determine where and how KIWE engages in targeted markets.
This role is ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of business development, client relationships, engineering strategy, and project delivery.

The Industrial Group projects span markets such as advanced technologies; industrial energy; drinking water; wastewater treatment and biosolids; desalination; industrial water; mining, minerals and metals; and process industries.
Location
We are targeting for this individual to be based out of either our Lenexa, Kansas; Lone Tree, Colorado or Dallas, Texas office.
Responsibilities
Drive Market Growth
Develop deep expertise in assigned markets, including industry drivers, client needs, technologies, delivery models, competitors, and key risks.
Develop and execute growth strategies across targeted industrial markets.
Identify emerging opportunities, market trends, and client investment drivers.
Support diversification into new and emerging markets.
Position the company's engineering, construction, EPC, EPCM, and project‑development capabilities to meet client needs.
Help build the company's long‑term position in priority and emerging markets by balancing near‑term opportunities with capabilities and relationships that support sustainable growth.
Build Strategic Client Relationships
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, industry participants, and internal stakeholders.
Develop relationships with owners, developers, EPC partners, and industry stakeholders.
Serve as the senior technical and engineering voice for the market in client and pursuit discussions.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders.
Influence projects early in the development lifecycle.
Identify, evaluate, and recommend engineering partners, technology providers, and specialty collaborators.
Shape Projects Before They Become Projects
Shape opportunities from early concept through pursuit by helping define owner requirements, conceptual design, contract strategy, self‑perform scope, and execution approach.
Provide leadership and oversight through concept development, FEL studies, Pre‑FEED, and FEED phases.
Oversee project‑development activities, including early works, pre‑FEED, FEED, FEL, and other front‑end planning efforts.
Lead engineering intake and determine the appropriate level and timing of engineering involvement.
Assess how the company should enter and participate in each opportunity (construction‑first, EPCM, engineering‑led, or other delivery approaches).
Evaluate opportunities and determine appropriate engineering engagement.
Influence project positioning, partnerships, delivery models, and pursuit strategies.
Partner Across Markets, Engineering & Operations
Partner with market strategy and business development leaders to evaluate, qualify, and prioritize opportunities.
Partner with business development, operations, and senior leadership to develop pursuit strategies and advance opportunities through internal approval processes.
Coordinate engineering, project‑management, construction, estimating, project‑controls, and other technical resources needed to advance opportunities.
Align markets, engineering, project management, and operations around growth opportunities.
Support investment and go/no‑go decisions on strategic pursuits.
Connect Strategy to Execution
Anticipate resource needs and communicate staffing, capability, and capacity requirements early enough to support successful delivery.
Forecast future resource requirements and staffing demand.
Support a disciplined transition from project development into execution, ensuring scope, assumptions, risks, partners, resources, and responsibilities are clearly aligned.
