The D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University is seeking

candidates for a tenured position as the Mark and Gail Pyke Professor of Accounting in

the Accounting Group. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026

Summary of Responsibilities:

The major responsibility of the chairholder is to develop initiatives that enhance the

school's scholarly reputation in the fields of accounting and advisory services through

high-impact research and related activities in areas such as auditing, corporate

governance, AI, Large Language Models, and ESG reporting. The Mark and Gail Pyke

Professor will help increase the visibility and prestige of the D'Amore-McKim School of

Business Accounting faculty by promoting and enhancing research activities. The Pyke

Professor is also expected to develop initiatives and programs that enhance both the

Business School's and University's reputations among business executives and

policymakers. The chairholder will also teach in the accounting graduate and/or

undergraduate programs.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a doctorate in Accounting or a related field by the appointment

start date. They must be outstanding scholars with an international reputation for

excellence in research, teaching, and service, along with clear indications of continued

research success. We are especially interested in individuals who value collegiality, are

effective mentors of junior colleagues, and whose research would complement and

extend the interests of our existing faculty. Qualified candidates must be prepared to

work with global student populations.

Candidates must also possess a strong record of impact on practitioners, either from

practitioner-oriented publications or the creation of novel programs for companies and

institutions and must have verifiable backgrounds in institution building and program

development.

Research statement (no longer than 5 pages):

Please describe the focus of your research, including the questions you have identified,

the funding you have received to support the work (if applicable), the results you have

discovered, and the products of these efforts. Highlight any cross-disciplinary research

efforts you have undertaken. Please also describe any research you have undertaken

with students and/or with the external community. Finally, please outline the research

directions you foresee pursuing in the D'Amore-McKim School of Business, any cross-

disciplinary and collaborative aspects, and the strategies you will take to address each

direction.

Teaching statement (1 page):

Please summarize your past instructional and mentorship experiences, your

pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching in the D'Amore-McKim School of

Business (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching

and mentoring global student populations.

Leadership statement (1 page):

Please describe your past experiences and activities and/or your future plans detailing

your leadership style, how you intend to cultivate a culture that promotes a sense of

belonging, including fostering a free and open exchange of ideas and managing

different perspectives to help others strengthen their practice."

Professor: $289,000 - $360,000

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
