Job Summary
Marine Service Technicians are responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of marine vessels by assisting with firefighting inspections in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with firefighting inspections according to USCG and ABS codes.
- Learn and understand the scope of work for all inspections.
- Utilize mobile and tablet applications to manage and document inspections.
- Complete required paperwork and upload documentation to the appropriate database.
- Document deficiencies and items requiring repair.
- Manage customer expectations and maintain excellent customer relationships.
Requirements
- 5 years of offshore experience servicing systems.
- Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance.
- Reliable transportation.
- Clean driving record.
- OPITO-approved THUET with CA-EBS.
- Current or ability to obtain Louisiana State Fire Marshal endorsements in:
- Fire Alarm
- Fixed Fire Suppression
- Fire Extinguishers and Hoses
- Current TWIC card or ability to obtain.
- Safe Gulf Certification.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain.
- Must be willing to work offshore for extended periods.

- Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic safety standards and ability to learn industry standards.
- Self-motivated to learn codes and regulations related to marine fire protection.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Working knowledge of test equipment.
- Strong work ethic and integrity.
- Ability to work in unusual and difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and tablet/phone-based applications.
- Strong time-management skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in industrial, commercial, outdoor, and offshore environments that may involve noise, dust, heat, low-light conditions, heights, and other challenging conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while using appropriate fall protection and safety equipment.
- Ability to use hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening, and other tasks involving torque, vibration, and noise.
