The Marina Manager is responsible for working with the General Manager to oversee the daily marina operations including but not limited to the general operation of the docks, communication with Members and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the harbor and marina facilities. The Marina Manager will be in charge of leading day-to-day operations and management of the business in the absence of the General Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the management of berthing, mooring, storage and servicing of boats within the marina
Oversee transient activity in slips and reservations
Responsible for daily operations of yard activity and marina docks in all seasons
Daily inspection of marina machinery and schedule regular maintenance to provide a clean and safe facility
Comply with state fuel facility requirements, including tank and line testing, proper operator certification, and maintenance records
Manage, train, schedule and supervise yard teammates while leading by example and upholding Safe Harbor standards
Safely operate Marina owned marine and land vehicles
Operate machinery including Travelift, hydraulic trailer, Neptunes, forklift, power washer, and other marina equipment
Coordinate regular machine maintenance and ensure machinery is in safe working condition
Haul out and launch boats. Offload trailers
Arrange and move boats in and out of buildings for winter storage including blocking and using jackstands
Provide exceptional customer service and hospitality for incoming boats and new and existing Members
Assist with and attend Marina events including the annual boat show
Maintain positive relationships with tenants, contractors, and local authorities
Ensures that teammates, Members and guests observe all marina rules and regulations
Availability to work overtime when required
Ability to work some weekends and holidays
Assist Fuel Dock Staff as needed to fuel equipment and boats
Assist with team development and support a positive team environment
Assist as needed with Facilities Manager
Use marina programs include Kronos, Dockwa, Excel and Word
Any other tasks as assigned by General Manager as needed
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
4-6 years' marina experience preferred
Heavy forklift experience and certification required
Must possess a valid drivers' license
Buffing and waxing boats is a plus
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to work safely around the water
Must be able to swim
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Basic boat handling skills preferred
Ability to drive boats preferred
Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred
Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
Any skills considered standard that a Marina Manager should possess
