    Description

     TekPro Engineering is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Test Technician / Service Technician to join a growing, innovative engineering team specializing in high-speed custom automation equipment. This role focuses on final assembly, testing/debugging, field installation, and service of advanced automation machinery across industries like life sciences, personal care, and food and beverage.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform final electrical and mechanical checks to ensure machinery meets specifications.

    • Analyze part control, machine functions, and system operations.

    • Support engineering and manufacturing teams by providing technical feedback on machinery upgrades and configurations.

    • Test customer product samples to determine equipment compatibility and configuration.

    • Conduct final quality control inspections and performance testing of machinery before shipment.

    • Install, service, and support machinery at customer sites domestically and internationally (up to 25% travel).

    • Assist customers during factory acceptance testing and final delivery.

    • Work primarily at the South Elgin, IL facility, with some work at the Belvidere, IL location.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in machine building, testing, debugging, or service of automated machinery.

    • Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent relevant experience.

    • Strong understanding of electrical systems (AC/DC fundamentals) and the ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.

    • Proficient in interpreting detailed 3D mechanical drawings.

    • Hands-on experience with basic machine shop equipment (drill press, mill, grinder).

    • Familiarity with PLCs (ability to read ladder logic and perform basic editing is a plus).

    • Skilled in the use of hand tools and precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges).

    Salary:
    $28 – $37 per hour, based on skills, experience, and education.
