    Description

    As a Manufacturing Technician - Optimus, you will help build the future of robotics on Tesla's Optimus production lines in Austin, TX. Working hands-on across highly automated assembly lines, you will be the go-to person who keeps processes running, responds rapidly when something goes wrong, and drives the improvements that turn a brand-new production system into a world-class operation.

    • Provide daily coverage of Optimus production line processes to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize throughput
    • Lead disposition of non-conforming material produced by the production line and escalate as needed
    • Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve product yield, station uptime, and reduce aging WIP
    • Support Engineering and Manufacturing teams in improving and writing manufacturing instructions and rework procedures
    • Execute trials and analyze data under the direction of process engineers to qualify new processes, calibration procedures and equipment
    • Trial new parts and processes alongside the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
    • Perform quality audits to proactively identify potential issues, partnering with the quality team
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Production, Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Maintenance to enhance manufacturability, line productivity, and overall operational performance
    • Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Passion for robotics, automation, and Tesla's mission - excited to help bring a brand-new product to scale
    • Proven ability to draw accurate conclusions from test data, malfunctions, or deviations, and assist with corrections to the existing process
    • Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Experience with highly automated equipment, robotics, or precision/high-volume assembly a plus
    • Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies a plus Essential Physical Demands
    • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
    • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
    • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
    • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
    • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
    • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
