Title: Manufacturing Technician I
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Hopkinton, MA

Description:

Summary:

Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assembles and repairs various highly complex technical electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Tests the functionality of equipment or sub-assemblies.
  • Familiar with standard production concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing field such as Lean and ISO
  • Cross training of processes within product line and across product lines
  • Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required
  • Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments
  • Must follow procedures (photodocs) to meet quality specifications for each job and not deviate from procedures
  • Assists engineering staff in refining assembly protocols and design of equipment and fixtures
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish daily/weekly goals
  • Works under general supervision, a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Working in a clean room environment

Basic Qualifications:

(2-3 minimum, measurable requirements)

  • High school diploma required
  • Associates degree or equivalent years of experience a plus
  • 1-2 years of experience in the field or a related area
  • Experience in soldering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a GMP manufacturing environment is required
  • General understanding of machinery and mechanics is advantageous
  • Lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • General computer skills and experience with MS Office (Word/Excel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; requires interaction with managers, supervisors, engineers, and other hourly associates in a fast pace environment
  • Knowledge of SAP (or similar) a plus
  • ISO knowledge a plus
  • Basic knowledge of engineering drawings
  • Assembler experienced working with complex electromechanical assemblies and instrumentation
  • Excellent manual dexterity to work on complex, intricate assemblies
  • Must follow procedures for all work orders (photodocs)
  • Work safely and maintain a safe environment
  • Produce quality work with on-time delivery expectations
  • Minimize waste and maintain inventory in the work cell
  • Participate in 5s and LEAN activities
  • Work with team to drive continuous process improvements
  • Assist with new product development
