PGS Worldwide is seeking a Manufacturing Technician in Goleta, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support the fabrication, assembly, testing, and rework of mechanical and electromechanical components used in advanced spacecraft systems. The technician will work closely with engineers on manufacturing setup, calibration, testing, process improvements, and prototype development.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on manufacturing ability.
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, manufacturing instructions, and shop planning.
- Familiarity with proper hand-tool techniques and safety, including use of wrenches, screwdrivers, and similar tools.
- Familiarity with torque concepts and requirements.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions written in English.
- Ability to safely handle and manage fragile composite materials.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on manufacturing requirements.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as DC power supplies, digital multimeters, and source meters.
- Proficiency with basic shop arithmetic.
- Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance.
- Experience with cranes, rigging, forklifts, or similar manufacturing equipment.
- J-STD soldering certification.
What You’ll Do
- Fabricate and assemble mechanical components and subassemblies for larger systems.
- Set up and test prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
- Analyze test data and recommend component or test-procedure modifications to meet specifications.
- Assist engineers with mechanical and electromechanical designs, testing, fabrication, setup, and calibration activities.
- Perform manufacturing rework and quality testing on parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
- Use specialized software to collect and evaluate operating data and make adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
- Assist with developing and improving manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Handle fragile composite materials and maintain required adhesive usage, traceability, pot-life, and out-time records.
- Document manufacturing data and communicate with other employees and departments.
- Maintain a clean and orderly manufacturing work area.

- Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts as manufacturing requirements dictate.
